Erdenet Mining Corporations is located on the territory of province Bulgan, 400 km northwest of Ulaanbaatar the capital city of Mongolia. Distance to town Bulgan is 60 km, and to town Darkhan-183 km.
The 51% of the company’s capital owned by Mongolian government, and the rest 49% is shared by Russian government.
The company’s units are: open pit mine, mineral processing plant, and valley type tailings impoundment and etc, which are located at 1200-1600 meter above the sea level.
The processing plant and the city Erdenet have railway communication to Eastern-Sibirian main line of Russia(through the station Naushki), and to domestic railway sets through the station Darkhan, and also have automobile transportation between cities Darkhan and Ulaanbaatar. Those transportations run whole year around. The raw material of Erdenet Mining Corporations is an ore-bearing zone Erdenet, with length of 22 km, and width of 5 km, including several copper-horrific type ore deposits “Erdenet Ovoo” is in use. Calculated ore reserves are about 1300 million tons of ore. (6 million tons of copper, and 170 thousand tons of molybdenum).
Mineral Processing Plant “ERdenet” has been operating since 1978. Since the time plant began its operation, about 370 million tons of ore was processed and 2000 thousand-tons of copper, and 35 thousand tons of molybdenum was extracted from copper, molybdenum concentrates, respectively. According to project capacity, number of mined ore is increased from 20 million tons in 1991 to 24 million tons in the half of 2001.
In its units company includes repair-mechanical factory, the biggest in Mongolia, which provides JV Erdenet by all necessary types of machinery construction supplies and all complicated repairing tasks of main technological equipments. The factory also includes forming divisions with capacity of over 6000 tons per year. Industrial, social and living necessities of EMC are provided by: technology autoimmunization and computer system division, railway division with capacity of 4400 thousand ton-kilometer per year, heating station with heating steam capacity of below 450 tons per hour, energy, electrical divisions and others. |
